Club Challenges

We run up to seven club challenges per season (formally known as competitions) for our members to hone their film making skills. Deadlines for entry are found on the calendar and challenges must have a minimum of three entries to proceed. Any subject of the film maker's choice. This challenge can be used for experimental productions i.e for a film not necessarily fitting into any of the other challenges. (Members votes only)

The Open

Each season a new theme is chosen by the committee. Running time must not exceed five minutes. (Members votes only)

The Five Minute

Entrants are requested to submit a film with a specific viewpoint on any subject. The film must be informative and show signs of research by the film maker. (Members and external judges vote)

Documentary

This challenge is open to any member who has not won a competition by judges' or members' vote during the season. (Members and external judges vote).

Chairperson's Cup

This is an editing challenge based on a set theme where members are supplied with the same footage and asked to solve various editing challenges. (Members vote only).

Ray Jennings Challenge

David Cleveland was known for his innovative and highly imaginative films, so this should be prominent in films entered in this challenge. Must be fictional. (Members votes only).

David Cleveland Challenge

All the winning films during the season are entered with external judges determining the overall winner. (External judges only).

Film of the Year

Films can be any length but entrants must consider that entering a film of an hour amongst much shorter films may be to their disadvantage.
